Rubber, whether natural or synthetic, arrives at the fabricator's plant in large bales. Once the rubber arrives at the plant, processing goes through four steps: compounding, blending, shaping and vulcanization. The natural rubber manufacturing process begins with harvesting rubber from rubber trees. Harvesting rubber from rubber trees begins with scoring or cutting into the bark of the tree. The latex flows into a cup attached to the bottom of the cut in the tree. The natural rubber material from many trees is accumulated in large tanks.
